DEBRIEF

Debrief:

At 13:10 on 29th March a multi centre police operation culminated in the raid and dismantlement of a large scale illegal drugs testing facility situated below the Knighton St Outpatients’ building at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.

Police found a small facility consisting of office space, medical and surgical facilities and 4 separate patient rooms. Each patient room had a chute which lead to a staff area room above – this room had facilities for two members of staff to feed, control the “gas” level of the rooms below, and 2 desks strewn with paperwork – the desk belonging to Mr Sykes was covered in documentation which lead to the identification of the patients in Project Uniform Foxtrot (scrawled notes in binary, lists of patient information in pencil) whereas the second desk appeared fairly normal, except for a few rose petals and a small scrap of paper detailing :

“I need to tell you something

Come and see me tonight, V”

Officers wearing PPE entered the two of the rooms below containing the suspects known as Patient H (Carlton Hayes) and Patient Q (Vanessa Quinn), both were severely malnourished, exhausted and seemed terrified of the officers, despite their feebleness. They were taken in to receive medical attention.

Officers entered the back office area; they found room for 10 administrative staff, one PA and one separate office reserved for the director. This whole area was empty, they knew well in advance that we were coming, they knew. Officers found documents detailing the plan for widespread use of the chemical agent known as ED Distillate across both eastern and western warfare fronts. Officers also found some disturbing images from past experiments; severely decayed bodies which appear to be reaching for help from a medical gurney, bodies hideously deformed and overgrown. Locked in a safe at the back of the office, officers found documentation authorising the "recruitment" of up to 150 patients from surrounding areas. These authorisations included one for Patient H, (detailing him as a security threat), and one for Patient Q (also detailed as a threat, but afforded certain extra amenities - presumably due to the directors' affection for Quinn - these included enhanced meals, and a bookshelf in her room). Attached to each recruitment authorisation was an "approval to destroy" form, detailing how to dispose of each patient once the experiment ended.

All documents were taken in as evidence.

Patients H and Q wanted the following message to be passed to those who helped them through:

“Thank you, thank you all for all your help. Without you, regardless of the gas, we would have both died in there alone. Your guidance, help and support allowed us to make sure that this doesn’t happen again – however, we know the big wigs managed to escape. We will be in contact again, we have to find them and bring them to justice. Again, thank you. Take care.”

Hayes and Quinn will be joining Project Uniform Foxtrot as expert witnesses in the pursuit of the directors of WK Pharms. Your assistance may also be needed. For now, the production of ED Distillate has been suspended pending further (regulated) testing. You will be kept in the loop.

URGENT

We need to act now, it seems WK are purging their patients. At full exposure I'm sure we don't have long.

I need to know exactly where they are being held before we can move.

Please, give me all the information you can.

Document 3/3

Document 3/3: The final document does not appear to be from WK Pharms, but from Vanessa's personal log. Some kind of diary:

"Diary of Vanessa Quinn:

16th March:

Dear Diary,
I don't like the way the head Director looks at me, its saccharine. I've already had to fend him off once this year, if they didn't pay me quite as much, I think I would have left this job many months ago.

17th March:

Dear Diary,
Carlton came and brought me flowers today. He gets sweeter every day. I found more documents on the ED trial, had to hide them from him, I can't risk putting him in the picture yet.

18th March:

Dear Diary,
I've read the documents I took from the Directors' office. They are awful, just awful. How can they treat people like this? I need to help them. Carlton doesn't know he's assisting in this torture. I need to tell him.

19th March:

Dear Diary,
I came into work to find my computer already logged on. I don't think my files are safe here, I need to transfer them home. I will speak to Carlton and invite him over to mine tomorrow, we need to take this evidence to the police.

20th March:

Dear Diary,
Carlton should be here in a few minutes, I'm going to tell him everything. Hopefully he can convince that other guy he works with to help. We have to take all this evidence to the police. WK Pharms can't get away with treating people like lab rats, if we could ju."

and thats where it stops.

We need your help, it sounds as if WK Pharms are testing an unlicenced drug on innocent people.

Document 2/3

Document 2/3: I'm not sure what this shows, but it seems to suggest the death rate for whatever kind of trial is occuring here:

Summary:
It seems the chemical agent causes significant mental strain on the patient due to continuous tiredness. In high doses the patient will find it difficult to stand or converse. Eventually, full exposure causes the complete catastrophic lysis of all cells in the body. A typical patient can survive no more than 24 hours under full exposure. "

As you can see, the evidence becomes more disturbing as you encounter the whole picture. We need to know where H and Q are being held, but we cannot move on them until we are sure. WK Pharms appear to be a powerful company, we do not want them to have any chance to either terminate their victims or escape without reprisal.

Document 1/3

Good afternoon,

I am a public liason officer from Leicestershire Constabulary. I have come to you with some disturbing news.

I understand that a number of you have been conversing, through email, with a Timothy Sykes. I regret to inform you that Mr Sykes was found dead on wastleland outside Leicester city centre yesterday. He had been repeatedly beated by several attackers wielding blunt objects.

We found a number of documents on his person, along with a note which simply said "UF". After investigating a number of sources, our evidence lead us here. We have read the blog, along with the rest of your investigations, and we would like to request your assistance further.

You are experts on this case, and we need your input to work out where Patient H and Patient Q are being held.

Following are the documents found on Mr Sykes body:

Document 1/3 - This seems to be a drug trial proposal:

Brief:

One of the major problems facing the military on long missions is the issue of battlefield medicine. Serious injuries which occur a great distance from clean and efficient healthcare can often lead to long term disability for the sufferer or even death. ED Distillate is a prototype metabolic accelerant; it increases the growth activity of cells to such a rate that even major wounds can become almost entirely healed within a matter of hours. The growth rate increase is estimated to be 150 fold. We envisage ED Distillate having numerous applications for both domestic medical use and international warfare.

Limitations:

ED Distillate increases the growth of all cells, not to a superhuman size, but to a normal growth size – only much faster. In a normal human body, around 18 million cells die each minute and are, subsequently, replaced. ED Distillate prevents the death of these cells by effectively curing their decay. Each cell which regenerates uses a small amount of energy (partly using energy from the IMP, partly from the bodies own energy reserves) to undergo this process, this saps the patient's energy reserves and this, in turn, results in extreme tiredness for the patient.
The agent also causes almost complete memory loss at the time of it being administered. This begins to fade almost immediately after the agent is no longer being administered. This is not thought to be a problem as only a small dose of the gas will result in complete metabolic recovery for the individual, and the memory will return in time. However, the effects of long term exposure may need to be explored.
